Que Sera Sera

There's nothing like a hot cup of tea, good friends and a phone call from mom to bring me back to the basics.

I'm so thankful for those that keep me grounded.
So. Blessed.

Currently Obsessed

For those of you that don't know me I have a passionate and borderline unhealthy obsession with anything Jane Austen. For those of you that do know me are nodding their heads laughing. But anyway I was at one point (somewhat still) one of those "don't mess with the classics" book extremist. So when they started re-writing the Jane Austen books with a syfy twist I was appalled. So much so that I refused to even look at them... but one lowly evening at Barnes&Noble I was debating which additional copy of Ms.Austen's books to add to my already full collection (no seriously I have back-ups for my back ups...I call it insurance) I came a across a title that read "Emma and the Vampires". As I was about the scoff and roll my eyes I figured what the hell I'll see what the fuss is about so I read the first chapter...I found myself laughing out loud at the ridiculous yet clever adaptations of one of my favorite novels. The fact the Mr. Knightly is a vampire and that Emma has a stake tied to her leg "with a fashionable pink ribbon" made it all the more absurd. So I bought it. I love that the book has the craziest plot but maintains that Austen charm I adore I couldn't pass it up. However I can't bring myself to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. {Spoiler Alert: Lady De Bourgh has fighing ninjas?} I just can't.

Anyway I will definitely let you know how it goes, its an entertaining read thus far!

Colorful Weekend

I'm so excited for this weekend because I'm gettin the heck outta dodge!
Haha but honestly I am going out of town to stay with my Meme whom I love and adore! Not only that but my cousin has come into town for Easter weekend and I get to spend some very needed down time with family. Sadly not all the family will be there but they know they are greatly missed!
Let's see I predict this weekend will be filled with noir movies, chocolate bunnies, color, Peeps, and did I mention chocolate?

I hope everyone will have as blessed a weekend as I will!

Escape

I'm getting to that point where I'm may just get in my car and keep on driving....
I can already feel that everything is going to change soon. A chapter is coming to an end and a new adventure will be put in it's place. It's always scary right before you take the leap but I know where my guidance is coming from and I'm blessed to know that I can always count on it to be right beside me.
I was told something rather colorful this weekend and what I took away from it was you should live hour by hour because we are never promised tomorrow.

Hope you are having a beautiful day!

What a Weekend!

What a crazy and exciting weekend!
My younger sister's prom was this weekend and she looked amazing! Her dress was from a local bridal store named "She Said Yes" their gowns are always awe inspiring. Very Beauty and the Beast esq, no? (Also one of my top favorite Disney movies L.O.V.E.) it was also my cousins prom as well and their hands down adorable so I wont brag....

Apart from all the prom night magic this weekend was so needed even I didn't realize it. It was so great to touch base with the family and spend an amazing weekend with old friends and sleep in my old bedroom. Also I have finally gotten myself in order and Ive got my eye on the prize lets just hope the prize has its eye on me....

In other news my cousin from Louisiana is coming up for Easter weekend and Im stoke, could it be? Another epic weekend?

Things Currently Making Me Smile

Okay so I finally had time to go to Hobby Lobby and grab some more supplies for my wine stoppers....I think they turned out pretty well! However I still need to prefect a few things but that's just for my own satisfaction.
I will say though that this Hobby Lobby trip had to have been the shortest visit in the history of my and my roommate's many escapades in there....we were in and we were out. I want to say that I'm proud of us for not getting distracted by its many decorative and unnecessary knick-knacks but part of me is very disappointed as well....Mallory we need to make up for this and I vote the only way to do that is to go antique shopping. Trust me this hurts me more than it hurt you.

Speaking of antiques....
Just wanted to share with you this prized possession that I bought for a steal at a local flea market in Rogers. If any of you live close by its called The Rose and its so quaint. It has tons of great finds if you're willing to search for them!

(Its beautiful I know...next on my "to buy" list is either an old revolving telephone or a bust form. Wish me luck!)

Gone But Not Forgotten

Just wanted to share some photos of my Grandparents farm. They've passed away and we're having to auction off their home. It's so sad to know that I'll never see this place again, swing on the porch swing, or fish in my Papa's pond down in the field. But memories are what keep those of us left behind with something to treasure.

Undress My Mind Just a Little

I loved this so I thought I'd share.
It holds such a sense of solitude and peace...this photographer is amazing

More of my favorites, so elegant and mysterious

Gifts to Me..

To start off this past weekend had been a stressful one and Monday was the icing on the cake to what I like to call my 'stress bucket'.
So what's a girl to do when everything is breaking apart like a Starbucks blueberry muffin?
Take a long drive and indulge in some not quite needed retail therapy.

The lovely ensemble above is but a taste of my very successful shopping trip. Compliments to my second home and favorite place to shop Forever 21! I can't wait to jump into summer with my new maxi it's beyond comfortable and needless to say really really cute! Confession: I already have this beaded warrior necklace in turquoise...and I bought the coral as well...my logic is it's a completely different color therefore makes for a completely different outfit, savvy? Oh well it makes sense to me and thats all that matters :)
Post to come: I've been in a very domestic/creative mood and along with that I have started making wine stoppers. So basically I started making decorative corks for wine bottles. My first one turned out really well so I'm headed to Hobby Lobby this week to play with some ideas I've had..those photos to come soon!

This is my new present to me once I survive finals
(going forward in this post are the gushes of a book worm...you've been warned)
I first started reading The Mortal Instrument series when I heard about it from my roommate and as soon as I read the first book (City of Bones) I was hooked! I will admit I was addicted to the forbidden love story (hello girl here) but the way in which Cassandra Clare mapped out the histories of the characters was flawless. Okay I'll give a run down, well the best that I can...everyone knows the whole vampire fade correct? If not I would like to know where you've been?
The Mortal Instrument series is a whole new genre of fantasy that I feel will soon hit it's peek! Anyway instead of vampires this is more focused on Nephilim. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term its basically human descendants of angels. But Clare puts a adventurous twist with the story and I suggest that everyone take a look at it! If not for the story then definitely for the love story....don't get me started but it's amazing!

Apart from that this week is the beginning of my new diet/workout routine/me! I'm tired of being a lazy bum so I'm taking initiative and getting in shape. School, work, going to the gym and enjoyng my new book...I'm going to be a very busy girl.

Currently Obsessed

I am currently obsessed with these two beauties..
Anything aged and eclectic I'm immediately drawn to!

I have been on the search for a simple yet elegant pocket watch necklace that doesn't remind on lookers of Flavor-Flave...and low and be hold ModCloth.com has answered my prayers! What I love most about it though is it's Alice in Wonderland like appeal..curiouser and curiouser

The Medallion however is big, bold, and something I plan to add to my current accessory collection! Any accessory that can simply pull an outfit together all on its own is sure to be a prized purchase and I can assure you there will be no buyers remorse from this gal!

(Im thinking a cream toned lace tank, skinny denim and boots would be the perfect ensemble...my poor little wallet)

Rainy Days and Road Trips...

This has been the current disposition of Arkansas which has for some reason become the rainy state? Go figure.

Sadly my days have not consisted of playing in puddles and putting my polka dot rain boots to full use :( No, my days have dwelled in British theatre works and Finite mathematics homework..ew. Although I would never complain about my British theatre course, I adore the "in your face" genre of the 50'-60's of the time. But all school work aside...it's FRIDAY!!
And to celebrate this joyous occasion I plan to hit the open road with one of my dearest and closest friends.

Singing to our steering wheel, catching up on old times and surely getting into some kind of trouble. Its the perfect end to a very stressful week :)
